If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.  But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. He is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.

 

Imagine yourself on the ocean when there are rip-tides and high surf.  The instability this causes is how I feel when I become double-minded. When I listen to too many voices, read too many opinions and become tolerant of current culture, my wisdom deteriorates and I begin to doubt and become confused. 

 

Now, imagine standing firmly on the shore, at the quiet edge of the surf at rest and with sound footing. That’s what single-mindedness is to me; knowing and believing whole-heartedly in Christ who gives His wisdom with no strings attached.
