ABOUT The Arts Worship Sabbath is a worship service done in an open house style. For the first two years of its existence it was called the SELAH service (maybe you’ve heard of it!) As a worshipper we invite you to arrive at the Orlando Repertory Theatre Complex (1001 East Princeton St., Orlando, FL 32803) on August 27, 2006 anytime from 10am to 3pm. You will travel at your own pace from room to room experiencing the expression and worship offerings from artists in our community. Our focus in worship will be Jesus, the Living Hope and it is our hope that in your journey through the different venues you come away renewed in your faith, hope and love of Christ. The different art forms will provide you a tool for worship and a place to enjoy Sabbath rest. If you have children they may join you in your worship journey or you may want to allow them to participate in the kids activities and child care available from 11 am to 3pm. As a worship service, The Arts Worship Sabbath is a FREE event, sponsored by Orlando area artists, several Christian churches, area businesses and foundations. Giving to the Lord is also an act of worship that you may want to participate in and donations to this and other arts ministries will be gratefully welcomed. Following the Red Thread Art takes us on an emotional journey and the Arts Worship Sabbath elevates that process by creating a physical path for you to take. The path will be marked by a red thread (literally a swath of red material) which will begin at an Orientation Lobby designed to prepare you for your walk. The red thread will then take you from a Visual Arts Gallery to a Literature Room and into a Performance Theater — all opportunities for you to receive the worship from the local artists through different mediums. From there the red thread leads into a Prayer room, a place for you to hear the prayers of our volunteers lifting up the service and a place to offer your own prayers. Leaving there you will journey to the large theater for your Response to God through worship music culled from a variety of styles throughout history. Following your Worship time, you will go to a Meditation room, where you may spend time listening to God. In this silent room you will have the opportunity to receive communion. Once you have received the worship of others, offered your worship to God, and listened to God, we invite you to join us for fellowship. We will relax in a café with light refreshments, as we share the impact of the time spent through art with Jesus, the Living Hope. The café will open at 11 am and close at 4pm, giving each worshipper the time to fully experience the Arts Worship Sabbath journey. |
